In some cases, such as where required by law, we may notify about any updates by sending you an email, posting a notice on the Platform about the update, or using other reasonable means. • Payment information, such as details about and credentials to your charitable giving account (including donor advised funds or community foundation accounts), payment card details, check data, or other financial information you provide for payment. We work with third-party payment processors that collect this information and manage payments through the Platform.

• Profile information, such as your username and other details you provide in connection with your account on the Platform.

Preferences, such as your marketing or communication preferences.

• Communications, such as the information associated with your requests or inquiries, including for support, assistance, or transaction information, and any feedback you provide when you communicate with us.

Other information that you choose to provide but is not specifically listed here, which we will use as described in this Privacy Policy or as otherwise disclosed at the time of collection.

Personal Information Collected Automatically. We and our service providers may automatically log information about you, your computer, or mobile device, and your activity over time on our Platform and on other sites and online services, such as:

Online activity information, such as the website you visited before browsing to the Platform, pages or screens you viewed, how long you spent on a page or screen, navigation paths between pages or screens, information about your activity on a page or screen, access times, and duration of access.

Device information, such as your computer or mobile device operating system type and version number, wireless carrier, manufacturer and model, browser type, screen resolution, IP address, unique identifiers, and general location information such as city, state, or geographic area.

We may receive or collect personal information about you from third parties, such as our customers and other business partners (including advisory firms, wealth advisors, CPA firms, accounting firms, and other third parties), our service providers, social media platforms and other public sources, data providers, and other third parties. For example, if you are a donor with an advisory firm that uses the Platform, they may provide information about your donations.

Referrals. You may have the opportunity to invite colleagues, clients, or other contacts to the Platform and share their contact information with us. Please do not provide us with someone’s contact information unless you have their permission to do so.

Sensitive Personal Information. Unless we specifically request it, we ask that you not provide us with any sensitive personal information (e.g., information related to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religion or other beliefs, health, biometrics or genetic characteristics, criminal background or trade union membership) on or through the Platform, or otherwise to us.


Giving Place may use personal information for the purposes set forth below and as otherwise described in this Privacy Policy or at the time of collection.

To Provide the Platform. We may use your personal information to provide the Platform, such as to:

• provide and operate the Platform and our business;
• create, manage, monitor, and maintain your account on the Platform;
• provide you with the services you request;
• facilitate your donations, send you receipts, and monitor your transactions;
• monitor and improve your experience on the Platform;
• review and respond to your inquiries and requests;
• send you updates about your donations and store your information for future donations; and
• contact you by phone, email, or other form of communication.

Research and Development. We may use your information for research and development purposes, including to study and improve the Platform and our business, understand and analyze the usage or donation trends and preferences of our users, and develop new features, functionality, products, or services. As part of these activities, we may create aggregated, de-identified, or other anonymous data from personal information we collect. We make personal information into anonymous data by removing information that makes the data personally identifiable to you. We may use this anonymous data and share it with third parties for our lawful business purposes.

Direct Marketing. We may send you Giving Place-related or other direct marketing communications as permitted by law. You may opt-out of our marketing communications as described in the “Your Choices” section below.

To Comply with Laws and Regulations. We will use your personal information as we believe necessary or appropriate to comply with applicable laws, lawful requests, and legal process, such as to respond to subpoenas or requests from government authorities.

For Compliance, Fraud Prevention, and Safety. We may share your personal information with our customers and other business partners, such as when we send personal information to your advisory firm or intended donation recipient to complete your donation, offer a co-sponsored event or offering, or participate in any joint marketing efforts.

Under certain circumstances, Giving Place may be required to disclose your personal information to law enforcement, government authorities, and other parties if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g. a court or a government agency). Giving Place may also disclose your personal information in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or for the purposes described above in the section titled “Compliance, Fraud Prevention, and Safety.”

Professional Advisors. We may share your personal information with persons, companies, or professional firms providing Giving Place with advice and consulting in accounting, administrative, legal, tax, financial, debt collection, and other matters.

Business Transaction Participants. Giving Place is headquartered in the United States, and we may work with service providers in the United States and other countries. Third Party Platforms. If you choose to connect to a third party platform on the Platform, you may have the ability to limit the information that we obtain from the third party at the time you create your account. You may also be able to control our access to your personal information through your account settings with the third party platform. Please note, if you withdraw our ability to access certain information from a third party platform, that choice will not apply to information that we have already received from that third party.

Cookies. Most browsers let you remove or stop accepting cookies from the websites you visit. To do this, follow the instructions in your browser’s settings.
